Dominik Malek, Johana Novotná, Ondřej Vyhnánek and the academic sculptor Marie Uchytilová
curated by Lucie Laskovská, Kristina Tělupilová, Kamila Smetana Varaďová and Miloslav Vorlíček
Atelier is an exhibition for children under 12, featuring interactive artworks from three early-career artists who engage in a creative dialogue with the academic sculptor Marie Uchytilová.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Maria Uchytilová's birth, the author of the monumental sculpture "Memorial to the Children's Victims of War," which is now an integral part of the extensive memorial area in Lidice. Each invited artist will reflect on the theme of the art studio in their work, encouraging children to participate in the creation of the exhibited pieces.
Marie Uchytilová's studio will inspire the invited artists and provide a creative space for children to contribute to the artworks. The exhibition is interactive and participatory, continuing the tradition of high-quality exhibitions aimed at young audiences. It allows children to engage in the creative process without screens or tablets, allowing them to actively participate in art using their hands and further develop their creativity.
Dominik Malek, known for his expressive paintings, will invite children to touch real artwork and add their visions to his pieces. Johana Novotná will emphasize the educational aspect through workshops that will introduce children to various artistic techniques and approaches. Ondřej Vyhnánek will showcase his work, which is strongly influenced by the urban environment and subculture, providing a dynamic backdrop for the children's artistic scenes.
A series of thematic workshops highlighting the life story and work of Marie Uchytilová will be conducted by the lecturers from the Lidice Memorial. Children will have the chance to explore the sculptor's studio and leave their artistic mark.
