The international group exhibition titled No Feeling is Final. Works on Paper from Skopje and Lidice Solidarity Art Collections showcases artworks by nineteen artists from across the globe who responded to a call in the 1960s, donating their pieces to the newly established Solidarity Collections in Lidice and Skopje. These artists exhibited remarkable generosity, even when they often faced financial hardships.
The Lidice art collection was created to commemorate the 1942 Lidice Massacre and celebrate the new life that emerged after the war. In contrast, the MoCA Skopje collection was established following the devastating earthquake in 1963 as part of the city’s reconstruction efforts involving Czechoslovak architects and builders. An open appeal invited artists worldwide to contribute their works to this new collection.
Both collections, developed simultaneously in different parts of Europe, are now regarded as national treasures. When they were created, most artworks were by unknown artists just starting their careers. The generosity and international humanism displayed by these artists foreshadowed their future significance in post-war art.
The exhibition No Feeling is Final. held at the Lidice Art Collections - Lidice Gallery and Trade Fair Palace - National Gallery Prague, provides a fresh perspective on post-war art history through these unique collections. In collaboration with the National Gallery Prague, MoCA Skopje, and Kunsthalle Wien, this double exhibition emphasizes what can be accomplished through solidarity and how art unites humanity during times of conflict and hope.
