On Loan
27. 3. – 26. 7. 2026
Bringing together some 150 medieval and Renaissance objects from the Treasury of Saint Vitus Cathedral with works by leading figures of modern and contemporary art — among them Francis Bacon, Gerhard Richter, and Anselm Kiefer. The exhibition at Prague Castle is curated by Jiří Fajt.
The Lidice Art Collection has loaned Joseph Beuys's Pro Lidice (1967) — a modest object of bone, metal, paint, and wood, made as an act of solidarity with the destroyed village — to this exhibition. It is displayed in direct proximity to a medieval reliquary of Saint Wenceslas, patron saint of Bohemia. Two objects of memory, centuries apart, in quiet confrontation.
PAST
17. 10. 2025 – 2. 3. 2026
Continuing its tradition of landmark monographic exhibitions devoted to leading figures of 20th and 21st-century art — including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, and David Hockney — the Fondation Louis Vuitton dedicates all its galleries to Gerhard Richter, widely regarded as one of the most important and internationally celebrated artists of his generation.
The exhibition features Richter’s seminal work from our collection Onkel Rudi (1965). You can find this newly framed piece in Gallery 1: 1962–1970 — Painting from Photographs: Photography as a Source of Imagery.
