Nina Jirsíková and Lidice Women
We Are Survivors on a Broken Rock features a unique dialogue between authentic objects created by the Lidice Women. At the same time, they were imprisoned in the Ravensbrück Concentration Camp and the artworks by their fellow prisoner, Nina Jirsíková, whose drawings are on loan from the Terezín Memorial.
Both exhibitions What Lies Above Us in Shadow Like a Black Cloud and We Are Survivors on a Broken Rock borrow their titles from a poem written by the antifascist resistance fighter Anna Kvapilová (1905–1992), namely "Oh to See Again..." and "A Slice of Bread," respectively.
